Where have I been?

I had a blog a long time ago, Internet time wise anyway. Back in the mid-aughts I had a poker related blog and was part of a larger poker blogger community. We had private tournaments online back before that was easy to do. We even came up with a name for the group: World Poker Blogger Tour (WBPT). We got tother in Las Vegas and hung out in person for a few days at a time. It was a good time. Around 2010ish some of the steam had started to run out, many long time poker blogs went into a hiatus and then in 2011 Black Friday hit and everything changed. Online poker died overnight. I had pretty much stopped blogging by then and lost touch with the community that I enjoyed.

In 2010, we lost our son to suicide and our life changed forever. I restarted the blog for a bit, but soon I just didn’t have the energy to keep it up.

In the following 15ish years, I’ve been to Costa Rica a dozen or so times, worked at the same place (save a 3 month foray somewhere else that just didn’t work out), had my dad die, and moved to Florida.

Why start again?

Not sure to be honest. I don’t have anybody to pass on stories or anything to, so maybe somebody else will get some enjoyment and laughs from it. Sometimes there’s things I’ve learned that are not proprietary but could be useful to other people. I’m going to try to keep this non-political and basically non-controversial, hopefully just some helpful hints here and there, some general thoughts, some anecdotes and just general things. We’ll see how long it lasts.
